Travel plan

Imagine standing on the edge of the wild, knowing that the next two weeks will take you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Earth. This trip is not about a set schedule or a strict itinerary; it’s about embracing the spirit of adventure, the unknown, and the thrill of discovery.

For us, this isn’t just a road trip—it’s a journey into the heart of Canada’s vast wilderness, where each day brings fresh surprises. From rugged mountain peaks to serene turquoise lakes, you’ll encounter hidden gems, breathtaking views, and unexpected twists that can’t be planned or anticipated. This itinerary offers a glimpse of what lies ahead, but keep in mind it’s only an outline. Each day could bring changes—weather, trail conditions, or even a spontaneous decision to take a side route no one had considered.

Every place on this trip holds its own stories, and while we’ll touch on the highlights, some of the journey’s magic is left to be discovered along the way. This is a journey where the mountains lead, and we follow—where the experience is shaped by nature, camaraderie, and the joy of the road itself.

From here, the journey unfolds, blending the awe of exploration with the unknown, all within the vast beauty of the Canadian Rockies and beyond.

Let me share a bit about what awaits you on this journey, but I won’t reveal all the places we’ll visit.

This way, you’ll have no fixed expectations, and your experiences will feel even more real. You can be sure, though, that this trip will be amazing.

Day 1: Calgary – The Team Assembles

The team arrives in Calgary, each person carrying a mixture of excitement and curiosity. Some are seasoned travelers, while others are about to experience the wilderness for the first time. They settle into a cozy hotel, sharing stories about the journey ahead over dinner. With mountains looming in the distance, we raise a toast to the adventure awaiting them.

Day 2: Into the Rockies –. Calgary to Banff

Early the next morning, pick up our campervans. Our home on wheels for the next two weeks, the campervans feel like symbols of freedom. We drive toward Banff, our first taste of the Rockies making jaws drop and cameras click. Lake Louise is our first stop—a perfect mix of adrenaline and awe as we hike the Plain of Six Glaciers Trail. That night, we camp beneath the stars, each of us quietly absorbing the grandeur surrounding us.

Highlights: Lake Louise, first campfire bonding, and the thrill of mountain air.

Day 3: Banff to Lake Louise – A Day of Mountain Beauty

We leave Banff after breakfast and make our way deeper into the Rockies. Today unfolds gently, giving us time to explore Lake Louise — one of the most iconic, impossibly blue lakes in all of Canada.

We wander along the shoreline, taking in the reflection of glaciers on the water, and for those who feel adventurous, there’s the option for a short hike to a higher viewpoint. The air here feels fresher, sharper — like the mountains themselves are welcoming us.

In the afternoon, we enjoy a slow-paced moment: coffee with a view, time for photos, and simply being present in one of the world’s most breathtaking spots. As the light softens, we return to camp, settling in for another night beneath the wide Canadian sky.

Highlights: Lake Louise viewpoints, glacier reflections, slow-paced mountain vibes

Day 4: Sunrise at Moraine Lake – Exploring Banff National Park

We rises before dawn, heading to Moraine Lake to catch the first light breaking over its serene waters. It’s quiet except for the soft murmurs of teammates marveling at the beauty. Later, we explore Banff town, swapping hiking tales over coffee. In the evening, we take a dip in the Banff Upper Hot Springs, where laughter fills the air as we relax in the steamy water with a view of the peaks.

Highlights: Sunrise reflections, hot springs, and shared moments of awe.

Day 5: The Team’s First Challenge – Banff to Yoho

The journey continues west into Yoho National Park. Emerald Lake awaits, its unreal color inspiring a silent moment of gratitude among the team. We rent canoes, paddling across the water together—some jokingly racing, pausing to snap photos of the reflections. Later, we hike up to Takakkaw Falls, where the roar of water becomes a shared soundtrack of excitement.

Highlights: Canoeing on Emerald Lake, the power of Takakkaw Falls.

Day 6: Wonders of the Icefields Parkway – Night at Icefield Area

Today we travel along one of the world’s most breathtaking highways — the Icefields Parkway.

We stop at Peyto Lake, where stunning glacier blues reflect across the valley, and continue into the high alpine zone, surrounded by towering peaks and endless ridgelines.

As the sun sets, we stay overnight in the Icefield area — a quiet, dramatic landscape where the night sky feels closer than anywhere else.

Highlights: Peyto Lake, alpine viewpoints, night among the mountains.

Day 7: Glacier Morning – Icefield Trek & Drive to Jasper

We wake up surrounded by the stillness of the Icefield region. The air is crisp, the mountains are silent, and the glacier waits just above us.

After a warm drink, we strap on crampons and step onto the ancient ice — walking between crevasses, blue ridges, and frozen waves shaped by centuries of wind and snow. It’s a surreal experience, the kind that makes you feel both tiny and incredibly alive.

By midday, we return to the trailhead and begin our scenic drive toward Jasper. The road unfolds slowly, with stops at viewpoints and waterfalls along the way.

In the late afternoon, we arrive in Jasper, settling into camp for a calm evening of good food, soft conversations, and the quiet charm of this mountain town.

Highlights: Glacier walk with crampons, high alpine silence, scenic drive to Jasper, first night in Jasper.

Day 8: Wild Moments – Exploring Jasper National Park

Jasper’s wild beauty feels magnetic. We visit Maligne Lake, taking a boat out to Spirit Island. The quiet moments in the middle of this vast landscape bring a sense of wonder and peace. Later, a hike through Maligne Canyon challenges some team members, but with encouraging words, everyone makes it through.

At night, we gather under Jasper’s famous dark skies, watching for shooting stars and feeling connected by the shared silence.

Highlights: Spirit Island, team-building on the Maligne Canyon hike, and stargazing under Jasper’s dark sky.

Day 9: Into the Mountains – Jasper to Mount Robson (Night at Campground)

We leave Jasper and head toward the mighty Mount Robson. The road pulls us deeper into the heart of the Rockies, with every bend revealing new layers of mountain peaks.

We arrive at the campground at the foot of Robson and spend our first evening wrapped in silence and scale. A simple dinner, a warm cup of tea, and a sky full of stars hanging above us like the ceiling of a vast cathedral.

Highlights: Arrival at Mount Robson, evening at the campground, first views of the towering peak.

Day 10: The Berg Lake Experience – Backcountry Night at the Lake

Early in the morning, we set off on one of British Columbia’s most stunning trails. The path leads us through forests, narrow canyons, and glacier-fed rivers until it finally opens onto the turquoise waters of Berg Lake.

Here, with the sound of Robson’s glacier rumbling above us, we set up camp and spend the night in tents — a true backcountry adventure.

It’s the kind of moment when you feel part of the wild Canadian landscape, and the silence around you becomes almost unreal.

Highlights: Hiking to Berg Lake, camping at the glacier-fed lake, night in the wilderness.

Day 11: Return from the Backcountry – Night in Jasper

At sunrise, the glaciers glow softly in the morning light. We begin our hike back, enjoying every section of the trail from a new perspective.

After returning, we drive to Jasper for a well-deserved evening: a warm meal, a hot shower, and a calm night in town. The perfect counterbalance to a night spent in the wild.

Highlights: Glacier sunrise, hike out of Berg Lake, warm evening in Jasper.

Day 12: Crossing the Rockies – Jasper to Calgary (via Banff Hot Springs)

Today’s journey takes us across the Rockies once more. We return to Banff for a relaxing soak in the Upper Hot Springs — the most rewarding way to close the mountain chapter of our adventure.

After our time in the hot pools, the drive continues toward Calgary, where we gather for our final evening together.

Highlights: Banff Upper Hot Springs, scenic drive, final dinner in Calgary.

Day 13: Farewell – Departure from Calgary

The morning in Calgary is slow and peaceful. Some wander the streets for last-minute photos, others pick up souvenirs or enjoy one final coffee before the journey home.

Departure time depends on your final destination. It’s the moment when we look back and realize how much these days have given us:

glaciers, lakes, trails, camps, backcountry nights, scenic drives, and evenings by the fire — and a team that has become surprisingly close in just two weeks.
